Spain and Portugal are best travelled together and rarely sold that way. This tour links them properly: Spain's AVE high-speed trains between Madrid and Seville, a scenic run across the border into the Alentejo, and Portugal's Alfa Pendular north to Porto. You get the great Moorish sites of Andalusia, the Manueline architecture of Lisbon and Belém, the fairytale palaces of Sintra, and two full days in Porto with a Douro valley wine excursion. There is a food thread through the whole trip — a Madrid tapas crawl, a Seville market tour, Lisbon's pastéis de nata straight from the original 1837 bakery, and port tasting in Vila Nova de Gaia.
