About this trip

Ten days through Pakistan's cultural heartland — the Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort, the Gandharan Buddhist ruins of Taxila, the green Swat valley, and Peshawar's old city on the edge of the Khyber Pass. Runs October to April when the plains are cool.

Everyone knows Pakistan's mountains; far fewer people see its cities. This tour is for travellers who want the Mughal architecture, the Sufi shrines, the Gandharan Buddhist sites and the food — and it deliberately runs in the cool months, October to April, when Lahore and Peshawar are at their best. You spend three nights in Lahore alone, because the walled city rewards slow exploration: Badshahi Mosque at sunset, the Wazir Khan Mosque's tilework, Anarkali bazaar, the food street at Gawalmandi, and the Wagah border ceremony. Then north to Taxila, the Swat valley — Pakistan's Switzerland — and Peshawar, the oldest continuously inhabited city in South Asia.

Visas and practical information

Visa requirements

British passport holders need a Pakistan e-Visa (7–10 working days). British-Pakistani dual nationals travel on NICOP or POC. We prepare the full application, invitation letter and itinerary documents as part of the package.

Allow around 14 days for processing — book with that in mind.

  • Cash in rupees for bazaars; cards work in hotels and malls only

Frequently asked questions

Why does this tour run only October to April?

Lahore and Peshawar exceed 45°C from May to September, which makes walking tours miserable. The cool months are when these cities are at their best — and when Pakistani families themselves travel.

Can this be combined with the northern tour?

Yes, but only in the overlap months of April and October, when both the plains are cool and the northern passes are open. We build a 21-day combined itinerary on request.

Is Peshawar safe to visit?

Peshawar city has been calm for years and receives regular tourism. We stay in a secure central hotel, use vetted local guides and follow current Foreign Office guidance. Travel into the tribal districts beyond Jamrud is not included and requires separate government permits.

How much walking is involved?

The Walled City trail is around 3 km on uneven old-city lanes. Everything else is short walks from the vehicle. The tour is graded easy.

Can we attend Friday prayers?

Yes. The itinerary is arranged so you can pray Jumu'ah at the Badshahi Mosque, which is an extraordinary experience — tell us at booking and we shift that day's timings.
