About this trip

Six days in Azerbaijan — Baku's walled Old City and Flame Towers, the Gobustan petroglyphs and mud volcanoes, the Caucasus foothills at Gabala with its cable car, and the Absheron fire temple, on a fast e-visa and a four-hour flight.

Azerbaijan has become the alternative to Europe for Pakistani travellers, and for good reason: an e-visa issued in three working days, a four-hour direct flight, prices well below Türkiye, a Muslim-majority country with halal food everywhere, and scenery that runs from Caspian seafront to Caucasus snow in ninety minutes. Baku itself is a strange and appealing mix — a UNESCO-listed walled city with a 12th-century tower, oil-boom mansions on the boulevard, and the Zaha Hadid cultural centre. This package pairs three nights in the capital with two in the mountains at Gabala, and includes the Gobustan rock art and mud volcanoes, which is the day people least expect and most enjoy.

Trip highlights

  • Baku Old City (Icherisheher) — UNESCO listed, with the Maiden Tower and Palace of the Shirvanshahs
  • Flame Towers and the Highland Park panorama
  • Heydar Aliyev Centre, Zaha Hadid's masterpiece
  • Gobustan petroglyphs — 6,000 rock carvings, UNESCO listed
  • Mud volcanoes on the Absheron peninsula
  • Ateshgah fire temple and Yanar Dag, the burning mountain
  • Gabala cable car into the Caucasus foothills
  • Shamakhi's Juma Mosque, one of the oldest in the Caucasus

Visas and practical information

Visa requirements

Pakistani passport holders can apply for the Azerbaijan ASAN e-visa, normally issued in three working days. We complete the application and provide the hotel and flight confirmations required. Entry is subject to the officer at the border, as everywhere.

Allow around 10 days for processing — book with that in mind.

What to pack

  • A warm jacket for Gabala year-round; the cable car top station is cold
  • Comfortable shoes for the Old City's cobbles
  • A light raincoat — the Caucasus foothills are wetter than Baku
  • Manat in cash for markets; cards work in the city
  • Modest dress for mosque visits

Frequently asked questions

How easy is the Azerbaijan visa for Pakistani passport holders?

It is one of the most accessible for Pakistani travellers — the ASAN e-visa is normally issued within three working days. We handle the application and supply the supporting documents.

Is Azerbaijan cheaper than Türkiye?

Comparable on flights, and generally cheaper on food and shopping. It is considerably cheaper than a Schengen trip, which is why it has become so popular with Pakistani families.

Is halal food easy to find?

Yes — Azerbaijan is a Muslim-majority country and almost all restaurants serve halal meat. Alcohol is available but never forced on you, and the hotels we use have halal kitchens.

What is the weather like?

Baku is mild and windy; summers reach 32°C and winters hover near 5°C. Gabala is several degrees cooler year-round and holds snow from December to March.

Can we add Georgia?

Yes. Tbilisi is a five-hour drive or a short flight from Baku, and a three-night extension is popular. Ask for a combined quote at inquiry.
